ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A new ramp linking Innovation Way with westbound State Road 528 opened Friday morning.
The ramp gives motorists who commute from Avalon Park direct access to the Beachline.
It’s the first of four ramps that will open as part of the new interchange.
Motorists previously had to turn onto Monument Parkway and travel for about a mile before they merged onto the Beachline.
The project to extend Innovation Way to the Beachline, which has been under construction for more than a year, features taller ramps to make way for the All Aboard Florida train, which will eventually pass beneath them.
Motorist Eric Morales welcomes the changes.
“I think it'll be a little more convenient,” he said. “I don’t think it'll change how many people are going to use it, but I definitely think it’s going to be more convenient.”
The project is scheduled to be completed in May.
