Man, teen accused of robbing Daytona Beach hotel at knifepoint

Daytona Beach police said a 15-year-old and his accomplice robbed a busy hotel, then led officers on a high-speed chase.
Police said Jermichael Burgy, 32, held up employees at the Holiday Inn on South Atlantic Avenue at knifepoint on Sunday.
They said Burgy stole money from the cash registers before both suspects got into a car and drove off.
Investigators said officers followed the pair for three miles, until the suspect ditched the car on Garden Street.
Police said they caught the teenager hiding in the bathroom of a barber ship while Burgy was trying to make an escape out the shop’s back door.

A judge set Burgy’s bond at $40,000 on Monday and told him to stay 500 feet away from all hotels.
Tourist Brett Wade, who is in town for Biketoberfest, said he stays at the hotel every year.
“That’s a pretty terrible thing. This is a nice place and people come here to have a good time, especially during Biketoberfest,” said Wade.
He said the incident won’t keep him from coming back next year.
