Judge grants accused cop killer Markeith Loyd funds to hire private investigator

ORLANDO, Fla. — A judge granted this week funds to allow murder suspect Markeith Loyd to hire a private investigator for up to 200 hours to prepare his defense at trial.

Loyd is accused of killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Sade Dixon, in December and Orlando police Lt. Debra Clayton in January as she confronted him outside a Pine Hills-area Walmart.

Loyd is scheduled to go to trial on the charges on Sept. 11, 2018.
