An employee of Samz Electronics Store on International Drive was recovering from a gunshot wound Wednesday after he was injured in a robbery Tuesday night.
According to the Orlando Police Department, the victim was working at the store when two masked men walked in at 11:53 p.m.
The men ordered the employee to get down on the floor, but he refused and pulled out a knife, investigators said.
One of the men shot the employee and the pair fled in a black car, police said.
The employee, who was shot in the thigh, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The store is located next to Ramada Plaza, and tourists staying there were shocked to hear a violent robbery had taken place so close by.
“Seems like there is nowhere that you’re well protected anymore,” Alabama resident Glenda Packett said.
Anyone with information on the robbery or identities of the men involved is asked to contact the Orlando Police Department on Crime Line at 800-423-TIPS.
