ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — A 19-year-old Altamonte Springs man was indicted by a grand jury on a charge of first-degree murder in connection with the brutal killing of an 81-year-old neighbor, officials said.
Davio Shakeem Stewart is accused of killing Jackie Allen Hammer at his home in the 900 block of Vineridge Run in Altamonte Springs.
He was arrested in Fort Lauderdale on Aug. 3 after police realized the license plate of his car didn’t match the vehicle, officials said.
The officers pulled him over and said Stewart and three passengers “appeared nervous, smelled of bleach and could not advise who or where the registered owner of the vehicle was,” the Altamonte Springs Police Department said on its Facebook page.

APSD contacted police in Fort Lauderdale and had Stewart and his three passengers arrested.
During the investigation into Hammer’s death, detectives determined that Stewart had burglarized the man’s home not realizing he was there at the time, police said.
Stewart allegedly killed Hammer, took his car and later came back with Ommar Valdez, 18, Shuqui Gonsalves, 18, and Jay Mehta, 21, to clean up the crime scene, investigators said.
Valdez, Gonsalves and Mehta were identified as the three men with Stewart when he was pulled over in Fort Lauderdale, police said.
Stewart lived in the same apartment complex as Hammer, detectives said.
On Thursday, the Florida State Attorney’s Office announced that a Seminole County grand jury had indicted Stewart on a charge of first-degree murder.
He was also indicted on charges of burglary with battery, two counts of burglary of a dwelling, grand theft of a motor vehicle, grand theft, tampering with evidence, credit card fraud and petty theft.
