DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Daytona Beach police are investigating a man’s death Thursday morning near a financial firm, police said.
Police said the 47-year-old man and Mark Lopes and Patrick Murray were fighting over sunglasses when he was stabbed to death. Police said all three were drunk before the deadly confrontation.
Lopes and Murray are in custody, police said.
A woman near Edward Jones at 1301 Beville Road saw the body and notified police.
Mary Lynn Hastings was picking up trash behind her real estate office when she made the gruesome discovery.
"I've been here for 20 years, and I have never seen something like this," Hastings told Channel 9's Mike Springer. "It scared me. I was shaken."
Police said the two men were quickly arrested because Murray came back to the crime scene after police arrived and Lopes was sleeping next to the victim.
The man’s name has not been released.
