VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A 28-year-old South Carolina man driving the wrong way on Interstate 95 in Volusia County early Sunday struck and killed a person in another vehicle, troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Alex Edward Jamison, of Simpsonville, South Carolina, was driving north in the southbound lanes of I-95 at mile marker 269 when he crashed into a 2013 Toyota Prius about 1:55 a.m., troopers said.
Maria Stengel, 29, of Boca Raton, was taken to the hospital for her injuries, Jennifer Otto, 21, of Pompano Beach, died in the crash, troopers said.
Jamison’s vehicle overturned and he was able to get out of the car without serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
