ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — All of Florida's more than 97,000 inmates are on lockdown, according to the Florida Department of Corrections.
FDOC officials said the lockdown has to do with a no visitation order that was issued Wednesday.
The lockdown affects recreational and educational programs, but inmates are not confined to their cells, FDOC said.
All visits to Florida prisons, work camps and annex facilities were canceled this weekend due to a creditable threat, officials with the Florida Department of Corrections said.
Officials said Wednesday that they made the decision after receiving credible intelligence indicating that small groups of inmates at several institutions may attempt to disrupt FDC operations and impact safety and security. Officials did not disclose any more information about the specific threats.
Officials said they plan to resume normal operations as soon as possible.
