FBI: Remains of woman reported missing from Ormond Beach found in Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The FBI has confirmed that remains found by investigators in Tennessee on Friday are those of Rachael Madison, who was last seen on Nov. 27 in Ormond-by-the-Sea, Florida.

Madison, 44, was last seen near her family’s home in the Ormond Beach area, where she had gone to distance herself from her estranged husband, Jarvis Madison, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

While searching for Rachael Madison, U.S. Marshals located Jarvis Madison in Louisville, KY Friday morning and took him into custody on an unrelated warrant issued by Indiana State Police.

Through their investigation, the Louisville Division of the FBI and Indiana State Police were subsequently led to a remote area off of Interstate 40 near Knoxville, TN, where the remains were found Friday evening.

"We offer our deepest condolences to the family of Rachael Madison," said Special Agent Charles P. Spencer, FBI Jacksonville Division. "We continue to work tirelessly alongside our law enforcement partners in an effort to provide her loved ones with answers."

No further details were released.
