LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — A 16-year-old girl drowned in her friend's backyard pool in Lake County, authorities said.
The incident happened Wednesday evening. The girl and her 15-year-old friend have not been identified.
Lake County sheriff's spokesman Lt. John Herrell said the 15-year-old's father told deputies that he came home that night to find his daughter "extremely intoxicated," and her friend at the bottom of their swimming pool.
Both teenagers were taken to a hospital, where the 16-year-old was pronounced dead.
Herrell said the 15-year-old girl was in stable condition.
