ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Attendance at the Florida Gun Show soared Saturday, and many attendees said the recent Pulse nightclub mass shooting motivated them to show up.
There are seven gun shows a year at the Central Florida Fairgrounds, which normally average between 10,000 to 12,000 people.
Organizers said that the July 4th weekend show -- the first since the June 12 tragedy -- will have even higher attendance figures based on Saturday’s turnout.
The tragedy wasn’t far from the minds of attendees.
“It really is an eyeopener for me,” shopper Jordan Paulling said.
Despite a barrage of criticism for the show on social media, no protesters showed up outside the gun show Saturday.
