Osceola County Sheriff's deputies and Osceola County Fire Rescue said they responded to the car fire at about 9 p.m. on Canoe Creek Road, and found the body inside after the fire was extinguished.
“It will be difficult for investigators, but they have processed the vehicle or they're in the process of processing that vehicle. They'll look at any evidence that might have been left at the scene as well,” said Twis Lizasuain of the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.
Channel 9's Michael Lopardi went to the crime scene and said the area is very rural, mostly cattle ranchers. Deputies said although the area is rural, the road is frequently traveled and that they are hoping someone saw something.
Detectives said the death is suspicious, and the body has not been identified.
“The car is being processed by our forensics unit, and the body was taken to the medical examiner’s office to determine their identity, as well as the cause of death,” Lizasuain said.
The investigation is ongoing.
