A man was taken into custody early Monday morning after he barricaded himself inside his Seminole County home for more than five hours, deputies said.
Dozens of law enforcement officers arrived at the home on Cecelia Drive in Apopka near Bear Lake at about 9:30 p.m., after receiving a call about a family disturbance.
The man’s wife, her adult daughter and a child fled the home after the man fired several rounds from a handgun, detectives said. He then barricaded himself inside and would not surrender to law enforcement, deputies said.
Deputies said the man was inside a room and he was singing.
Neighbors were told to stay inside their homes.
The man, whose name was not released, is undergoing a mental evaluation, authorities said.
The man was taken to jail but has not completed the booking process. Authorities said he could be charged with domestic violence and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
No one was injured.
