FLORIDA — Two new cases of the Zika virus in Florida were confirmed Thursday by the Florida Department of Health.
The additional cases were reported in Lee and Miami-Dade counties. The total number of reported cases in the state is now 18.
Gov. Rick Scott announced that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will host a conference call and webinar with Florida hospital workers, including OB-GYNs, doctors and those who work with pregnant women, on Friday on how Zika is spread, its symptoms, treatments and proper precautions.

"Last week I requested the CDC to conduct this call, and I thank them for quickly scheduling it to ensure those on the front lines of helping patients with the Zika virus have the most up-to-date information to protect themselves and others," Scott said. "It is imperative that doctors, especially OB-GYNs and those that provide care to pregnant women, hear guidelines from the CDC on protocols to take when dealing with this virus."
Florida Surgeon General Dr. John Armstrong will provide a daily Zika virus update at 2 p.m. every weekday.
Officials said the updates will include a CDC-confirmed Zika case count by county and other information to keep residents prepared.
All reported cases are travel-related and involve non-pregnant women, officials said.
