Search continues for gunman who shot 19-year-old man to death in Cocoa, police say

COCOA, Fla. — An early-morning shooting Saturday in Cocoa left one man dead and two others injured, according to the Cocoa Police Department.

Officers said they responded to a shooting at about 3 a.m. in the 100 block of Prospect Street near Lynell Lane, where they found two men and a woman with gunshot wounds.

A 21-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were hospitalized and are in stable condition, officers said.

Terravion Lewis, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

“It’s bad. It’s bad he didn’t get a chance to live his life. He didn’t get a chance, you know, gone so early. I feel bad, you know. I got a son about his age, you know, and it goes so fast, it makes me want to cry," neighbor Willie Welch said.

Detectives said the three victims were lingering in the area when another man approached and began arguing with Lewis. The man fired multiple rounds at the victims before fleeing, police said.

Lewis’ family told WFTV they are asking the community to keep their family in their prayers, and for anyone with information to call police.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Central Florida CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS. Callers will remain anonymous and can be eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000.
