4 trustees resign from Bethune-Cookman University board amid financial crisis

Four members of the Bethune-Cookman University's board of trustees have resigned amid a financial crisis that has alumni and others calling for their ouster, Channel 9 learned over the weekend.
According to the Associated Press, 40 students and employees staged a protest at a recent board meeting.
The four resignations came after a letter from Bethune-Cookman National Alumni Association President Robert Delancy citing the board's failures to protect the school's finances and calling for several members to step down, AP said.
More resignations are possible.

One key issue is the fallout over a deal to build new dormitories that school officials have since said they can't afford. The school has filed a lawsuit against former president Edison O. Jackson and other top former administrators, alleging corruption and fraud in the dorm deal, AP said.
