Pilot hurt in DeLand plane crash is Ormond Beach resident, officials say

Update:

DeLAND, Fla. — The DeLand Fire Department has identified the pilot injured in Thursday’s plane crash as Heinz Peier, 75, of Ormond Beach.

Fire officials said Friday that Peier was in critical but stable condition.

The Federal Aviation Administration also responded to the crash site and is conducting an investigation.

A person was hospitalized Thursday afternoon after a small plane crashed in DeLand.

The crash happened near Edison Drive and State Road 11 about one mile away from the DeLand Municipal Airport.

Channel 9 has crew at the scene, gathering more information.
